Vienna Educational Mission | Day Four ⚛️

The fourth day of the program unfolded in an atmosphere of open professional dialogue.

Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the International Organizations in Vienna

Participants were welcomed by Ambassador Mikhail Ulyanov. During the meeting, he spoke about the specifics of diplomatic work in Vienna and answered questions related to current challenges in the field of non-proliferation and arms control.

This was followed by a series of thematic briefings, during which Russian diplomats presented a comprehensive overview of key issues on the international security agenda.

Participants discussed:

export control and the prevention of the placement of weapons in outer space;
nuclear and physical nuclear safety, IAEA safeguards, and technical cooperation;
nuclear testing and the specifics of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT);
digital diplomacy tools;
issues of conventional arms control.

The working day concluded with a meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, who shared his vision of the Agency’s current priorities and answered participants’ questions.

Today, the program continues with visits to research centers and exchanges with young professionals from around the world.
