Today marks what would have been the 96th birthday of Yevgeny Primakov — an outstanding statesman, diplomat, scholar, and journalist whose name our Center proudly bears.

His path is an example of profound service to his country, strategic thinking, and true intellectual courage.

This year, in preparation for the 5th International Scientific and Expert Forum “Russia — the Middle East,” we have gathered archival materials created by Yevgeny Maksimovich in 1966–1967, when he worked as a correspondent for Pravda newspaper in Cairo.

These texts — Primakov’s reports from various Middle Eastern countries — combine vivid journalism with deep reflection on the processes unfolding in the region. They not only convey the spirit of the era but also help us look at the developments in the Middle East today from a new perspective.
