TON Payment Network

TON Core has introduced TON Payment Network (Beta), a new system for accepting payments via payment channels.

How it works:

• Creates payment channels between two parties to process multiple transactions off-chain
• Records the final result on-chain only when the channel is closed
• Ensures security through smart contracts, eliminating the need to wait for block confirmations
• Enables a network of channels to route payments through intermediaries (A → B → C → D), even without a direct connection between sender and receiver

Benefits:

• More secure interactions with services
• Services don’t have full control over user funds — all operations require user approval
• Transactions occur off-chain and are confirmed in seconds, without waiting for blocks

Note: This method may conflict with Telegram’s policy on virtual goods, which requires using Telegram Stars.

Currently, most services rely on centralized balance processing with deposits in TON, USDT, and other tokens. For TON Payment Network to gain wide adoption, user-friendly solutions must be built around it.
