Immigration is when people move into a country from another country to live there. For example, if someone from France moves to the UK to work or study, they are immigrating to the UK.

Emigration is when people leave a country to live somewhere else. For example, if someone from the UK moves to Canada for a job, they are emigrating from the UK.

In short:
Immigration = entering a country.
Emigration = leaving a country.Both terms describe the movement of people across borders, but from the perspective of different countries.
