At least two tanks at the Grushovaya oil depot in Novorossiysk were damaged in the May 23 strike, while the Syzran refinery in Samara region halted operations after the May 21 attack, according to Reuters and Radio Svoboda reporting on Ukraine’s long-range sanctions.

“Traces of fire and drone strikes are visible in a satellite image of the Grushovaya oil depot taken on May 25. The image covers only the eastern part of the facility, so tanks outside the frame may also have been damaged,” Radio Svoboda reported.

Grushovaya is the largest oil depot in the Caucasus, with underground and aboveground storage tanks that can hold about 1.2 million tons of petroleum products. The facility accumulates oil for shipment through the port of Novorossiysk.

Reuters reported that the refinery’s primary oil refining unit, which accounts for more than 70% of Syzran’s capacity, was damaged, and repairs could take more than a month.
