The team kicked off a crowdfunding campaign and raised $8.3M in ETH in just a few weeks. With that, MoonDAO bought two seats on Blue Origin’s suborbital flights — yes, the same rockets from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos

The first seat went to YouTuber Coby Cotton, to draw public attention and prove that a DAO can actually send someone into space

The second was reserved for a future community member — to show that anyone could make it, not just celebs

The flight took place on August 4, 2022 — mission NS-22 by Blue Origin. Coby spent several minutes in zero gravity, becoming the first human sent to space by a DAO

MoonDAO governance runs on the $MOONEY token and NFT passes called “Tickets to Space” — which still give holders a shot at being next

Now the project is planning its next missions: a lunar capsule launch and even its own satellite
