A Special Initiative by Webster University Tashkent 'Knowledge Matchmakers'.

In Uzbekistan, family values, mutual respect, and the tradition of building a family at the right time hold an important place in society. At the same time, in today’s modern world, it is increasingly important for girls to receive higher education and develop professional careers.

In this spirit, Webster University Tashkent has launched the initiative 'Knowledge Matchmakers.' Through this project, we aim to expand opportunities for girls to pursue higher education while engaging families in open and meaningful dialogue.

As part of the initiative, university representatives visit families in a symbolic format inspired by traditional matchmaking visits. During these visits, they speak with families about educational opportunities, future career paths, and the possibilities available at the university for young women.

Looking at history, Webster University was founded in 1915 by the Sisters of Loretto, women educators who sought to expand higher education opportunities for women. Today, more than 60% of students at our university are girls and women, and this number continues to grow each year.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has repeatedly emphasized the importance of girls’ education, stating:

'If we educate girls and women, we will have educated the society'.

At Webster University, we firmly believe that girls’ education contributes not only to their personal success but also to the prosperity of families and the development of society as a whole.
