Ukraine has high hopes for Ireland’s presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of this year. Deputy Speaker Olena Kondratiuk emphasised this during a meeting with Jonathan Conlon, Ireland’s Ambassador to Ukraine. Ireland has identified Ukraine’s progress toward EU membership as one of the priorities of its presidency
“We are united with Ireland in the view that Ukraine’s accession to the European Union is not only a matter of enlargement but also a strategic investment in the security of all of Europe,” Olena Kondratiuk noted.
She thanked Ireland for its unwavering support of Ukraine. In total, Ireland has already provided Ukraine with aid amounting to 569 million.
