Ukrainian athletes will boycott the opening ceremony of the Paralympics in protest against the participation of russians and belarusians under their national flags.

This was announced by Minister of Youth and Sports Matviy Bidnyi during Question Time to the Government. Six other countries have already made a similar decision.

The Italian government has also called on the IPC to review its decision to allow russian and belarusian athletes to participate in the 2026 Paralympic Games under their national flags.
