A just and lasting peace must be based on international law, the responsibility of the aggressor and reliable security guarantees

This was stated by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, during a meeting with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, who is visiting Ukraine.

Particular attention was paid to the creation of a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression and the launch of an international compensation mechanism. This mechanism should ensure that the damage caused by russian aggression is compensated from the aggressor's assets, rather than from the resources of Ukrainian citizens or international partners.

As Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasised, the Verkhovna Rada is ready to take all necessary legislative steps to fully implement these decisions.
