The Saeima of the Republic of Latvia adopted a resolution expressing strong support for the people of Ukraine and its athletes and honouring the memory of the fallen defenders

In the document, MPs expressed their incomprehension regarding the disqualification of Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych and the ban on Ukrainian athletes at the 2026 Olympics from using symbols to honour their nation and fallen heroes.

The Saeima also condemned the actions of the IOC and called for genuine political neutrality at the Games, preventing representatives of russia and belarus from participating.
