On Friday, 6 February, the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics will kick off in Italy. Forty-six Ukrainian athletes will compete in 11 of the 16 Olympic winter sports.

Most of our athletes will compete in biathlon and luge (10 athletes each), freestyle (9) and cross-country skiing (6), according to the Committee on Youth and Sports.

A historic moment: in freestyle skiing, Kateryna Kotsar will become the first Ukrainian woman in the history of the Olympic Games to compete in the big air and slopestyle disciplines.

The principled position remains unchanged: russia and belarus will not have an official presence at the Games.
