Europe strengthens economic pressure on russia. «We have said yes to continued tariff-free trade with Ukraine and no to russian steel imports into the EU. This is a clear demonstration of European resolve,» emphasised Karin Karlsbro, Vice-Chair of the Committee on International Trade.

Members of the European Parliament have drafted a bill that would ban all imports of steel from russia and belarus. Steel is being added to the list of goods already subject to import restrictions from these two countries.

The final adoption of the bill is planned for spring.
