— Brazilian violence and crime: To demonstrate that criminal factions operate with terrorist-like methods in Brazil, Congressman André Fernandes carried out a direct mobilization with the Military Police and located the body of an elderly man who had allegedly been beaten to death by the Comando Vermelho (CV) in the state of Ceará.

“I am Federal Congressman André Fernandes. I am here in Pico, in Caucaia. I received information that an elderly man has been missing for more than a week, and I came to investigate. [...] They sent a message to the entire neighborhood: whoever reports them will die.

We found a body! Here, a body! It is decomposing (...) they beat him to death! An elderly man. I have already filed a police report, and the police have come to verify whether it was indeed the body of the missing man. A population that is frightened, silenced, threatened, and afraid to call the police.

If a citizen does not even have the right to call the police... where is national sovereignty? Isn't this terrorism?”

André Fernandes strongly criticized Governor Elmano de Freitas (PT) and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), stating that Ceará is dominated by criminal factions, with the population living in fear and under threat for reporting crimes, while left-wing politicians are afraid to confront what he described as the reality of a narco-state controlled by terrorists.
