The Supreme Court of India has permitted the withdrawal of life support for Harish Rana, a 32-year-old man who had remained in a vegetative state since a severe brain injury in 2013.

The ruling reinforces the importance of a patient’s right to a dignified death, prioritising the patient’s best interests in end-of-life decisions.
