Olena Yurchenko lived her entire life in Borodianka, Kyiv region. In 2022, she and her family survived the Russian occupation and lost their home in a strike. Olena lived through airstrikes, saw Russian tanks firing at the walls of residential buildings, and saw the homes of people she knew burn down.

The demolition of Olena's home became one of the most painful experiences.

"It feels as if the excavator is tearing down those floors, and your life is being cut away piece by piece. There was your bedroom, your wallpaper, your belongings left in the apartment…" she shared.
