Youth in penal institutions will be trained in modern professions

The Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures for training youth in penal institutions in modern professions” (RP–117, dated March 27, 2026) has been adopted.

📝 According to the Resolution, the national social rehabilitation project “Second Chance” aimed at training young persons serving sentences in modern professions shall be implemented.

✅ Within the framework of the project, starting from June 1, 2026, a system for training youth in penal institutions in modern digital professions will be introduced in Tashkent, Navoi and Kashkadarya regions, and from March 1, 2027 — in other regions of the republic. In particular:

🔸 training courses will be organized in penal institutions based on 8–12 month intensive training programs;

🔸 young persons serving sentences for crimes that do not pose great social danger, less serious and serious crimes will be involved in the training courses;

🔸 participants of the training courses will also be trained in foreign languages (English, Russian, Chinese and others) based on unified intensive programs;

🔸 upon completion of the training courses, young persons who have mastered the relevant programs will be awarded electronic certificates.
