A Reading Culture Development Fund to be established

A Presidential Resolution “On measures to develop reading habits and increase interest in reading among the population” (No. RP-9, dated 15 January 2026) has been adopted.

🔰 The main goal of the Resolution is to increase the average number of books read per person to 10 per year during 2026–2030.

🏛 According to the Resolution, a Reading Culture Development Fund (without legal entity status) will be established under the Youth Affairs Agency, and the composition of its Board of Trustees has been approved.

✅ The Fund’s resources will be allocated to finance the following activities:

🔹 awarding grants to young writers and publishing their works through competitions, as well as supporting projects in children’s literature;

🔹 identifying talented authors through competitions and creating conditions for their creative work by providing monthly payments for up to one year in the amount of 50 times the base calculation value;

🔹 covering 50% of the costs of preparation and publication, and 80% of copyright-related expenses, for translating the best foreign literature into Uzbek and national literature into foreign languages;

🔹 quarterly payments to members of the Board of Trustees in an amount of up to 50 times the base calculation value.
