Convicted persons will be granted the right to use remote video calls

By Law No. LRU–1112 dated 15 January 2026, amendments and additions were introduced to the Criminal Enforcement Code.

💻 The Law introduces amendments and additions to the Criminal Enforcement Code providing for the right of persons sentenced to deprivation of liberty to use remote video calls.

✅ According to the introduced amendments, a convicted person is entitled, at their own expense, to one remote video call or one telephone call, lasting 15 minutes.

📲 Previously, a convicted person had only the right to one telephone call lasting 15 minutes.

📌 The Law enters into force from the date of its official publication.
