Who are the Wall-Makers and why were they so annoying to the big number Holders in 2023?

A Wall-Maker (or a Waller, a Brickie) is a person who simultaneously puts up for sale 5 or more numbers at the same price. On the chart showing the number of numbers put up for sale and their price, such numbers have the form of a column of the same color and seem to create an insurmountable "wall" for the growth of the Floor price.

Walls also help to restrain price growth. If you put up, for example, 20 numbers at 199 TON, another person, in order to sell his numbers, needs to put them up at 198-197-196 TON, etc., and so a kind of "ladder" of supply is built in front of the wall.

Why did Wall-Makers anger large number Holders so much? It was due to the fact that the latter had a lot of VIP numbers on their hands, the price for which was tied to Floor Price for Random Numbers in certain periods. Conditionally, one good number could be bought for 5 Randoms, another for 10...50...100 Randoms, etc. In order to sell a VIP number well, it was necessary to raise the Floor price by for Randoms. How to do it? Massively and quickly buy numbers from retailers, pushing Floor price from 160 to 400 TON. The Wall-Makers were an obstacle to this, because they had a lot of numbers on offer, the purchase of which required spending a lot of additional funds, and they could also move their walls from a price of 250 to 299 TON, for example.

What was invented? Using the @numbersupply bot, it was possible to send a transaction with a text request to remove the wall to the wallet that built the wall. To create the illusion of community desire, large number holders agitated participants in the Number Holders chats, in particular, Anonymous Number Holders, to send transactions with a request to remove the walls in July-August 2023.

When the walls were removed, large holders began to buy up the remaining numbers from retailers, pushing the Floor price from 200 to 364 TON. But what a disappointment many people had when there was an obvious rollback of the Floor price to 265 TON. People who bought numbers at 350+ TON on the wave of hype, and especially those who wrote to the Wall-Makers (including your favourite Kate Smith) ended up at a loss and felt used.

As practice has shown, walls are a normal market situation. If they were not at 199, 299 TON, they would be at 599 or 999 TON. There will always be purchases and sales. Until weak hands dump their assets cheaply, there will be no growth.

Building the walls is also part of the Market Maker's job to ensure smooth growth. This prevents a sharp rise with a further sharp fall of the asset (Pump&Dump), so as not to scare off potential investors.
