Telegram will only have TON
The TON blockchain plans to capture 30% of Telegram's audience, but other blockchains are aiming to do the same. Solana, BNB and others are already creating their own mini-apps in Telegram, connecting their wallets and enborrowing the audience from the messenger into their ecosystem.
But what is the advantage of TON over the others, if the audience is the same?
TON Foundation and Telegram thought about it and decided to introduce additional moderation. Now, in addition to paying in stars, the use of TON Connect is mandatory.
If the mini-application detects a connection to another blockchain, the bot can be blocked. For such a performance
TON Foundation paid $300M, which is quite a lot. Earlier for the integration of Wallet into Telegram, TON Foundation paid $130M, but the contract has not been extended and is still unsigned.
On one hand, this is a plus for TON and its ecosystem, but ideologically it looks controversial. Pavel Durov has always fought Apple and Google's monopoly for forbidding the introduction of new features into Telegram. And now Telegram itself prohibits other blockchains from utilizing the messenger's audience.
It would be more logical to immediately integrate TON Connect directly into Telegram and allow authorization exclusively through the Bot API. But instead, we're back to crutches with manual moderation and lack of normal support inside the messenger.
