While widespread poverty and unprecedented unemployment threaten the lives of the people of Afghanistan, Taliban officials have continued to hold lavish wedding ceremonies, use state resources, and engage in third and fourth marriages. Citizens have repeatedly criticized the extravagant weddings of Taliban officials, saying that while the group is occupied with second, third, and fourth marriage ceremonies, the majority of people cannot afford even a single meal. According to them, potatoes have disappeared from the tables of the needy, and people have even composed poetry about rice due to declining purchasing power.

Amid the continuation of such luxurious Taliban wedding ceremonies, videos of flower-decorated vehicles from the wedding of a Taliban official, whose name has not been disclosed, have recently drawn sharp criticism on social media from users and some former government officials. The footage shows that the Taliban official decorated dozens of vehicles with flowers.

Obaid, a citizen of the country, says that people cannot afford even dry bread, yet Taliban officials, over the past four years, have looted mines and public assets, and each has married three to four times. According to him, most of these marriages have been conducted with payments of millions of afghanis, and impoverished families or opportunistic individuals seeking to get closer to the Taliban have given their underage daughters in second, third, and fourth marriages to Taliban officials and wealthy individuals affiliated with the group.
