German shipowners have called for “strong security guarantees” for passage through the route after Iran announced the possible reclosure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The Anadolu Agency reported on Saturday, April 18, that the German Shipowners’ Association (VDR) said in response to the situation that safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz is not guaranteed under the current conditions.

The association emphasized that shipping companies and ship crews need stable and coordinated international frameworks to continue their operations.
