Royalties explained

New gems get tripped up by how the secondary market works — so let’s break down one of the most requested topics: royalties

Royalties — are basically a % fee from every resale on the secondary market that goes straight back to the NFT Collection creator. This allows creators to earn from their art in the long run, not just a one-time profit during the primary sale.

Important: domains and usernames
A frequent question is: "If I mint a domain, do I get royalties when it's resold?"

Nope.

Registering a domain doesn’t make you the “creator” of the asset — you’re simply claiming a name onchain within an existing collection.

Royalties are credited to the creator of the Collection. If an NFT is added to an already existing collection, the reward goes to its creator, not the owner of the NFT itself.

On Getgems, royalties can be set anywhere from 0% to 50% — it’s fully up to the creator.
