 Here’s the deal:
A recruiter only sees a few fields at first glance - your desired position, profile photo, age, and your most recent job.
That’s it.
Even if you previously worked at ExxonMobil or Saipem but now list yourself as a "Consultant," that’s what the recruiter will see.
Your big-name experience? They’ll only find it if they open your full profile, and that doesn’t always happen.
Even your cover letter? It's shown only as a "fact of presence", it needs to be opened manually.
❗️What this means for you:
• If you've moved from a major oil & gas company to consulting or small, lesser-known projects, consider how to reflect this properly.
• It might be smarter to leave your last well-known employer listed as your most recent position, with an end date, and mention your current consulting work in the profile summary or cover letter.
Presenting yourself clearly and strategically is crucial when job-hunting on LinkedIn.
