Advisory on Ransomware Groups Targeting NAS Devices
The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an advisory warning citizens and organisations about ransomware groups targeting Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices.
These attacks may lead to data encryption, theft of sensitive information, and ransom demands. NAS devices are commonly used by organisations as centralized storage systems, making them an attractive target for cyber criminals.
Users and organisations are advised to take preventive measures such as restricting internet exposure of NAS devices, enabling multi‑factor authentication (MFA), regularly updating firmware and security patches, and maintaining secure offline backups of critical data.
