Iran Threatens to Mine the Persian Gulf — Hormuz Crisis Deepens
Iran's Defence Council has warned that any attack on its coastline or islands will trigger the deployment of explosive sea mines across the Persian Gulf, directly threatening one of the world's most critical oil corridors. In a parallel warning, the IRGC threatened to strike electricity infrastructure in Israel and US-allied regional countries if Iran's own power grid is targeted. As Washington presses a deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Gulf nations including UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar are now reportedly urging the US to press ahead — signalling that the standoff is rapidly moving toward a dangerous flashpoint.
