On February 23-24, Ambassador Jonathan Henick traveled to Bukhara, where he met with local leaders, visited historic sites, and engaged with members of the community.
During his visit, the Ambassador met with the Bukhara region Hokim to discuss regional priorities and cooperation and connected with English Teaching Assistants, Regional Alumni Representatives, and program alumni to hear about their work and experiences.
While in Bukhara, the Ambassador also participated in a conference highlighting the role of Bukharan Jews in the region’s socio-economic and cultural life. He also toured the historic Shia Hoji Bahrom Mosque. These discussions underscored how Uzbekistan’s rich heritage has been shaped by diverse communities and faiths, reflecting the country’s long-standing tradition of religious tolerance and coexistence
