Ragavapillai Siva, prominent face of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and Leader of the Opposition in the Puducherry Legislative Assembly, was first elected as MLA in 1996 from the Orleampeth constituency. He represented the constituency till 2011 and again from 2016 to 2021. In the 2021 elections, he changed his seat to Villianur, which he is set to defend as the Union Territory goes to the polls on 9 April.
