Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan, who is also the chairman of the Rajya Sabha, has rejected the motion submitted by Opposition MPs seeking the removal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. The motion, submitted on 12 March 2026, was signed by 63 Opposition MPs of the Upper House.

In the Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla refused to admit a similar motion signed by 130 Opposition MPs of the Lower House and dated 12 March 2026.
