'Thyagathin Sigarangal' (Crest Jewels of Sacrifice) - Drama Presentation by the Sai Youth of Tamil Nadu | April 13, 2026
Marking the auspicious eve of the Tamil New Year, a profound and thought-provoking drama was reverentially presented at Prasanthi Nilayam by the devoted youth of Tamil Nadu. Rooted in the rich heritage of the Tamil Sangam era, the presentation beautifully wove together history and spirituality, bringing to life the inspiring stories of the seven legendary patrons (Kadai Ezhu Vallalgal), renowned for their unparalleled spirit of selfless sacrifice (Thyaga).
Set against the backdrop of ancient Tamil kingdoms from over 2,000 years ago, the drama unfolded as a grand narrative of noble deeds, each illustrating the timeless truth that true greatness lies not in possession, but in renunciation and service. Through touching episodes, the play brought alive acts of compassion like King Pari offering his chariot to support a tender creeper, King Pegan shielding a shivering peacock with his royal mantle, King Adiyaman gifting the rare gooseberry to Tamil Poet Avvaiyar, and King Ori parting with his kingdom for a poet. Each scene reflected the ideal of seeing the Divine in all creation.
While these stories belong to a distant past, the drama’s deeper message resonated strongly in the present, drawing a seamless connection to the teachings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The lives of these noble kings were presented as living embodiments of His eternal message: “Love All, Serve All” and “Hands that serve are holier than lips that pray.”
Bridging the ages, the presentation highlighted how this very spirit of sacrifice continues to manifest in the modern era through Bhagawan’s vast service initiatives, offering everything free of charge, be it free super-speciality healthcare, providing safe drinking water to millions, or imparting value-based education that nurtures character alongside knowledge. These monumental projects stand as collective expressions of the same selfless love that once guided the Sangam Era Sevan Patrons (Vallalgal).
