NEW | U.S. Senators Condemn Trump’s Threat to Destroy Iranian Civilization

Senior U.S. Democratic senators, including Jeanne Shaheen, Chris Coons, Chuck Schumer, Jack Reed, and Brian Schatz, sharply condemned President Donald Trump’s recent threat to destroy Iranian civilization.

They warned that bombing essential civilian infrastructure, power grids, water systems, and other basic services relied upon by tens of millions, would be a clear war crime and a profound moral failure.

The senators emphasized that such threats deliberately endanger ordinary families, children, and the elderly, further destabilize the region, put U.S. service members at higher risk, and weaken the prospects for a diplomatic resolution.

They also called on the president to immediately abandon any plans that would inflict mass suffering on Iranian civilians.
