Among 65-year-old Palestinians the women’s life expectancy was only 10% longer than men’s whereas the gap in the East European countries varied between 28% and 35%.

According to the Palestinian National Authority the unemployment rates in 2011 were 15.9% and 22.6% for men and women in the West Bank and 25.8% and 44% in the Gaza Strip.

Life expectancy at the age of 20 was about half a year longer among men living in the West Bank than it was in the Gaza Strip and increased by half a year from 2006 to 2010.
