An email is circulating online claiming to be issued by the Income Tax Department for Assessment Year 2025–26. The email further asks recipients to pay a tax demand and directs them to click a link to view an 'Assessment Order.'

❌ The email and the Assessment Order are fake and have not been issued by the Income Tax Department.

⚠️ Fraudsters may also send emails claiming errors in tax calculation, refund processing, or pending notices to trick users into clicking malicious links.

Avoid clicking on suspicious links or sharing personal or financial information.

✅ The Income Tax Department never asks for passwords, OTPs, or bank details through email, SMS, or phone calls.

Tax-related communications can be verified by logging into the official e-filing portal.

Official emails are sent only from verified domains such as @incometax.gov.in
