PIB Fact Check Фото: An article by Dainik Bhaskar claims that the Government of India has admitted that COVID-19 vaccines pose a risk of paralysis and other neurological disorders. The newspaper has made this claim on the basis of a letter from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO). #PIBFactCheck ❌ This claim is misleading and baseless. It is not supported by any scientific evidence. ✅ The news article incorrectly interprets the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare’s communication to the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) regarding updates to the Summary of Product Characteristics of Covishield and Covaxin. The facts have been twisted and misinterpreted in the report. ✅ It is pertinent to note here that the inclusion of “rare” and “very rare” observations in leaflet containing the above product characteristics is a regular and standard global pharmacovigilance practice undertaken to ensure transparency and support informed decision-making.
✅ There is no evidence of any increase in neurological cases due to COVID-19 vaccines.

✅ During the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, India strengthened the Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) surveillance system, and every recorded AEFI case was examined and analysed by national AEFI committees.

▶️ In 2024, the World Health Organization assessed India’s vaccine safety regulatory system and rated it at Maturity Level 3, indicating that India’s system is internationally recognized and reliable.
