China’s micro-drama sector continued its rapid expansion in 2025, ranking as the second most-watched audiovisual format, with average daily viewing time reaching 129 minutes—just behind short videos. The country’s online audiovisual sector has overtaken all other internet applications in terms of user base, which reached 1.099 billion last year, according to a report released on Wednesday.
