During the inter-ministerial briefing on the ongoing situation in West Asia, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, stated that Brent crude, which was $70 per barrel two months ago, has now risen to over $100 per barrel. Despite this, petrol and diesel prices for domestic consumers have not increased, and the ₹2 reduction implemented in March 2024 continues.
