🇷🇺🇸🇬 President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong held a meeting on the sidelines of the #RussiaASEAN Summit (Kazan, June 18, 2026)
Vladimir Putin: I fondly recall my visit to Singapore, which, in addition to the bilateral programme, included participation in the 3rd Russia-ASEAN Summit. It was at that Summit that the strategic partnership between our country and the Association was proclaimed.
I would like to thank you for the fact that Singapore was the place, the country, where this event took place. We wish you every success in your ASEAN Chairmanship next year.
🤝 Our countries cooperate not only here, but also at other international platforms, above all the #UN. Russia-Singapore relations have traditionally been marked by mutual respect and a pragmatic approach, and we maintain constructive dialogue in areas of mutual interest.
Dialogue between our Foreign Ministries is also ongoing. We coordinate our responses to common challenges and threats, in particular in the field of international information security. We have something to offer each other in this area. I know that your country is actively engaged in and interested in this issue, as it is one of the key threats facing the modern world.
☝️ Considerable potential remains in the economic sphere. So far, it has not been fully realised, including due to the restrictions imposed. However, channels for business communication remain open. In April this year, Singapore hosted another meeting of the Russia-Singapore Business Dialogue.
We welcome the participation of the Singaporean delegation in the 29th St Petersburg International Economic Forum and will be glad to see your representatives at other multilateral events held in Russia, including the Eastern Economic Forum, which will soon take place in Vladivostok.
We also attach great importance to strengthening humanitarian ties and developing cooperation in education and culture.
Today’s meeting gives us a good opportunity to discuss in detail current issues, including the state and prospects of our bilateral relations.
