InteRussia Opens Fellowship for Journalists

Today RT Arabic hosted the official opening of the InteRussia fellowship program for journalists from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Morocco and Sudan.

The fellows were welcomed by:

Manna Maya, Head of RT Arabic;
Karina Melikyan, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Distribution at RT;
Lyana Dymova, Academic Programs Coordinator at the Gorchakov Fund.

During the opening ceremony, Manna Maya spoke about the specifics of RT Arabic’s work under the restrictions and the challenges that Russian media face nowadays.

She emphasised that this fellowship is truly unique and highly important for Russia, since strong ties between journalists from different countries and continuous professional dialogue are essential for the further development of the media sphere.

The fellowship has officially begun — this is only the first chapter.

The InteRussia Fellowship for television journalists from the Middle East and North Africa is implemented by Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation in cooperation with the Gorchakov Fund and RT Arabic with grant support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.

Congratulations to the Institute for International Studies (IIS) on its 50th anniversary!

For five decades, IIS has remained one of world’s leading centers for international expertise and academic dialogue, bringing together scholars, diplomats, analysts, and young professionals to discuss the key challenges shaping global politics and international security.

Over the years, the Institute has made a major contribution to the development of international studies through its research initiatives, educational programs, expert discussions, conferences, and international projects. IIS continues to serve as an important platform for meaningful dialogue and the exchange of ideas in an increasingly complex international environment.

We highly value Institute’s commitment to academic excellence, open dialogue, and international cooperation, and we are proud of the many joint projects and initiatives implemented together over the years. IIS is also our main partner of the internship program in International Relations, which was successfully held for the 10th anniversary time this year, continuing a long-standing tradition of supporting young professionals in the field.

We wish our colleagues and friends at IIS continued success, ambitious projects, inspiring discussions, and many new achievements ahead!

Today, we commemorate a significant moment in history — a day of remembrance, gratitude, and reflection. 81 years ago, the war came to an end, bringing relief to millions

Victory stands as a powerful symbol of resilience, unity, and the enduring strength of people. We honor those who defended the future at a tremendous cost, those who endured the years of war, and those who rebuilt life in its aftermath.

This day serves as a reminder of how fragile peace can be, and how easily it can be disrupted. It calls on us to reflect on the importance of empathy in everyday life, the role of dialogue in overcoming differences, and the responsibility we all share in maintaining mutual respect.

Behind this date are countless personal stories of courage, loss, perseverance, and hope. Every family carries its own memories connected to this time. We invite you to share your stories — so they continue to live on.

Inside Global Media: Where Stories are Made

Before a story reaches the screen, it goes through dozens of decisions. For a month, InteRussia fellows from South Asian countries in Journalism stepped into this process — working in newsrooms and engaging with how global media operates.

Here’s how the program unfolded in practice

emoji At the Sputnik studio, fellows followed editorial processes from the inside observing how stories are selected, shaped, and adapted for different audiences.

emoji Fellows had the opportunity to speak with Maria Zakharova and Andrey Rudenko, as well as other representatives from the foreign policy and media sphere.

emoji The program also included visits to major media platforms such as RT and TV BRICS. Fellows explored how international broadcasting works in practice.

emoji Walking through Moscow and a visit to the ballet at the Bolshoi Theatre offered a different form of storytelling where expression is carried through movement, music, and visual composition.

By the end of the program, the experience brought together different aspects of journalism — from newsroom practice to public dialogue and cultural observation — showing how stories are shaped across spaces, formats, and perspectives.

And if you want to be part of this experience — just go for it.

The InteRussia fellowship in journalism for South Asia countries is implemented by the Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation in cooperation with the Gorchakov Fund and the Sputnik International News Agency and Radio Broadcast Service with grant support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.

A Way to Read the East

What happens when the study of the East moves beyond theory and into real research spaces? This is exactly what fellows explored as part of the InteRussia Fellowship in Oriental Studies at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences — working with archives, museums, and academic experts.

What did it look like in reality?

emojiUnder the guidance of scholars from the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, fellows developed their own research projects, working directly with primary sources and visiting archives.

emojiAt the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts in St. Petersburg, fellows worked with rare texts, focusing on how knowledge is preserved and studied.

emoji At the State Historical Museum, they traced how cultures and empires evolved over time. The Russian State Library became a working space for independent study, while at the State Museum of Oriental Art fellows explored culture.

emoji At the Hermitage Museum and the Russian Museum, fellows moved through vast collections, encountering entire histories through artworks.

By the end of the program, the experience came together as a continuous process shaped by research, place, and direct engagement with sources and collections.

emoji And if you want to see how this journey unfolds in practice — learn more now.
