The flamingo is well-known for its habit of eating with its head upside-down. This behavior is largely due to the structure of its mouth and the logistics of lowering its long, graceful neck into the water.

Flamingos are filter feeders, using their tongue as a sieve to catch food. It will put its neck down under the water with its mouth essentially upside, then close its mouth and force the water through comb- like extensions on its beak, using its tongue in order to push the water out while keeping all the food in.

Flamingos are among the very few animals that are able to move their top jaw while eating. And The flamingo’s top beak functions like the bottom beak of most birds, and vice versa.

Giraffes do not have vocal cords. For many years, it was considered that giraffes spend most of their lives silent, save for the odd snort. According to new research from the University of Vienna’s section investigating animal acoustics, giraffes aren’t so silent after all: they spend their evenings singing.

Researchers theorised that humans couldn’t hear giraffe communication because the frequency was too low to be heard.

Pets can provide affection and positive interactions that alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation. Having a pet can teach children about responsibility and caretaking, while also offering an instant friend and playmate. Pet love can be a powerful emotional resource, particularly during periods of insecurity and self-doubt.

How do some female dragon fly avoid mate with undesirable males ?

Some female dragonflies go to great lengths to avoid sex— they fake their own deaths . For the first time,  Rassim Khelifa (scientist at university of zutich) observed that female moorland hawker dragonflies freeze mid-air, crash to the ground, and lie motionless when faced with aggressive males.

The Mountain goat is a hoofed mammal native to North America.

Both male and female Mountain goats have beards, short tails, and long black horns that contain yearly growth rings. They are protected from the elements by their woolly white double coats. The fine, dense wool of their undercoats is covered by an outer layer of longer, hollow hairs. Their coats help Mountain goats to withstand winter temperatures as low as -46 °C and winds of up to 160 kilometers per hour (99 mph).

Vultures urinate and defecate on their own legs and feet to cool off on hot days.

This a cooling mechanism called ‘urohydrosis’. Weirdly this can also help kill any bacteria picked up from walking through dead animals which they prey upon.

A once-extinct bird species "re-evolved" itself into existence and returned to the island it once colonized thousands of years ago, researchers say.

The Aldabra white-throated rail bird was declared extinct, a victim of rising sea levels almost 100,000 years ago.

Aldabra bird was a product of ‘iterative evolution’. That’s when old genes thought to have died out re-emerge at a different point in time. That means that while a bird’s ancestors might have disappeared, that DNA still remains – and provided the environment is right, there’s nothing to stop those ancient genes from replicating in modern times. So identical species can indeed produce multiple, slightly evolved offshoots, throughout the course of their species’ history.

But don’t get your hopes up that this means dinosaurs and wooly mammoths will be popping up next. This scientific phenomenon only occurs within species that are nearly identical to their ancestors.

At least 3,000 dolphins have fallen victim to Russia's military operations against Ukraine in the northern part of the Black Sea. Prof. Ivan Rusev, head of the "Research" department at the National Natural Park "Tuzlovsky limani" in Ukraine, According to Rusev, the reason for the death of the dolphins is the powerful sonar of the warships, as well as the underwater explosions, which destroy the delicate navigation system of the animals.

He also confirmed that since the beginning of the war until now it is believed that more than 100 dead dolphins were found from Odessa to the Danube Delta

Remaining practically "blind" dolphins die of hunger, and due to the weakness of their bodies, also of infectious diseases, says Rusev.

The worlds largest bacteria that can be seen with our naked eye is discovered !

Thiomargarita -The world’s largest known bacteria have been found in the tropical mangroves of Guadeloupe. Each bacterium is about a centimetre in length and has a structural complexity never seen before in bacteria with DNA contained in metabolically active, membrane-bound organelles.

Most bacteria are around two micrometres – 0.0002 centimetres – in length. Their size is limited by the fact that the energy-carrying molecules they use to power themselves are produced using enzymes embedded in the cell membrane. This means bacteria need to have a suitable surface-area-to- volume ratio to function. Growing bigger also limits how well they can move around.

Natal teeth are teeth that are already present at birth. They are different from neonatal teeth, which grow in during the first 30 days after birth.

The cause of natal teeth is unknown. But they may be more likely to occur in children with certain health problems that affect growth.

This child is born yesterday with natal teeth in Ethiopia , Wolayta zone. The baby was born with two teeth.
